Report 2007

The second edition of Barometer CVO 2007 provided a lot of interesting information about the company car market in Poland. The decision-makers who take part in the research are unanimous about the perspectives of the whole economy, car industry, as well as a single company development.

The forecasts about the increase of the company car fleet size are very optimistic and much better than in other countries where the research is being conducted. Operating and finance lease, as the main way of fleet funding, is becoming more and more popular among the Polish entrepreneurs. Although they do not constitute the majority yet, the quantity of those companies which chose these types of solutions has significantly increased in the previous years. It is connected not only with the service outsourcing capacity of the greatest Polish companies, but also with the direct inflow of foreign investments, managed according to the European trends. The most difficult obstacle is an insufficient knowledge of the decision-makers about the rules of lease and other forms of car fleet funding.

The lack of interest in new challenges for fleet companies may be alarming. When it comes to the criteria of choosing the company vehicle, the respondents declare safety only on the third place. This shows that the Polish market is still immature. This year’s research demonstrates that the decision-makers do not regard safety as an important issue of fleet management. Poland is in this case the last country among those included in the research.

The decision-makers are similarly unaware of the problem of environmental protection. In connection with the new UE regulations concerning the restrictions in CO2 emission, the Polish companies will need to revise their fleet policy. The interest of many countries, for example Czech Republic, in  environmentally friendly vehicles increases and indicates that even countries under dynamic economic development may have a responsible environmental policy. However, an active support of the public sector and a long-term cooperation with car manufacturers is necessary.
