"Green fleet" in Arval Polska
June 2009
Arval Polska was granted a CO2 offset certificate from environmental NGO, Action Carbone, that implements projects aiming at real reduction of greenhouse gas volume emitted into the atmosphere.
Arval Polska supported environmental projects with a sum offsetting annual CO2 emissions for all its company cars. This green certificate is yet another confirmation of the real environmental involvement present both on the part of Arval Polska and the whole Arva Group.
The final aim of the project is to offset whole annual CO2 emissions effected by Arval’s own company fleet so as to be able to reach the goal of zero emissions until the end of 2009. Arval fleet will then be referred to as the green fleet. Typically, offset sums are spent on financing environmental protection research, and in particular research focusing on counterbalancing climate changes resulting from greenhouse gas emissions.
In case of Arval Polska, the offset sums went to a project implemented by Action Carbone in cooperation with Indian NGO, SKG Sangha. Its environmental project is called Biogas and consists of developing infrastructure for obtaining energy from that very source. It is implemented in rural areas of India. Key goals include improving the standard of living in the said areas, curtailing deforestation and vandalism afflicting forests as well as natural green reserves, and slowing down the global warming.
The Biogas project promotes usage of fuel from agricultural waste, that on one hand unconditionally improves sanitary conditions, and o the other hand – thanks to processing that waste into natural fertilizers – restricts usage of chemical fertilizers that are harmful to the soi and to whole ecosystems.
