Car policy of a company

Car policy of a company
Car policy, among others, consists of:

  • The list of entitled positions and rules of company car granting, the rules of company car utilisation (for example abroad, on holiday, by a third party) and other activities connected with the HR policy of the company.

  • Brands and types of vehicles, in reference to particular positions, basing on their utility for one's professional duties.

  • Rules concerning technical inspections, repairs and current servicing and also the rules of action in case of theft, damage, break-in or accident.

  • Matters of settlements concerning the current exploitation, rules and conditions of granting and returning the car (protocols, procedures, etc.) and other administrative activities connected with the fleet maintenance.

The company is obliged to perform some of these tasks on its own, but many of the other can be carried out by an external company. Yet, many companies prefer to manage their car fleet on their own, following the rule: "If you want to do something well, do it yourself." As a result, a very popular solution is to purchase vehicles and maintain them within a company or, rarely, to use employees' private cars and settle up the covered kilometres.

More and more companies though turn to outsourcing as a method of cost optimalization. They trust specialists, for whom the fleet management is a core activity.
